WEST STRAND ART GALLERY is proud to present:
INTERSECTING NARRATIVES: PHOTOGRAPHY, PRINTS AND DRAWINGS
This exhibition brings together eight artists from Kingston, New Paltz, and Hurley whose works jointly explore the interplay between visual culture, identity, and place.
Sikena Khadija and Michael A. Torres’ photography captures the serenity and beauty of nature and place. Sikena creates a series of poetic images of the Rondout Kingston Creek and the Hudson River. Michael’s architectural series of his travels abroad spotlights the alluring geometric forms of buildings in villages and play of shadows seen in walkways and alleys.
Fredda Brennan, Pam Krimsky, and Eliezer Parrilla are gifted artists whose drawings probe the depths of the figure both observed and imagined. Included are portraits by Pam that give a striking impression of the mind and mood behind the faces.
Joshua Kramb’s ink drawings on wood and his woodcut prints conjure some of the dark visages of humanity giving his drawings a sense of menace, mystery and implied violence.
Daniel Venture’s digital photographs tout the mysteries of intimacy and sensuality of the human body. Amy Fenton-Shine’s photo-composites combine images of places, figures and nature to reimagine new realities.
